John

Jerry and his wife, Lynda, have been married over 40 years and have two daughters, Kristy McGovern and Kelly Tippins. Kelly's husband is Scott Tippins. Kristy has two children: Ricky and Melanie. Kelly has three children, Taylor, Colton, Caleb.

Jerry came to know that he was saved June 23, 1993 when Stephen Davey came to visit them. Stephen and Lynda were talking about the time they had accepted Christ and Jerry was trying to think about when he had and could not remember when or if he really had.  Stephen asked him if he would like to be sure if he had accepted Christ and he said, yes. After they prayed he was relieved to now know for sure he was saved and was baptized by Stephen one month later.  Jerry and Lynda completed the membership class and were presented for membership.

Over the years, Jerry has served the church through Carpenters for Christ ministry, as an usher, leader in the Open Bible ABF and as a deacon for about 10 years.

His flock is made up of a mix of ages. There are some families that have just had new babies, some have children in elementary, middle and high school, some have children in college, some have children that are grown and have their own family, and there are some who have lost their mates. He believes it is a great blend and that every family has something to offer by ministering to each other in their own special way.

Jerry’s flock is located basically in the Kildaire Farm Road and Cary Parkway area.
