Russ was born in Seattle, WA. At the age of seven he moved to Valparaiso, IN where shortly thereafter the Holy Spirit prompted him for his need of a Savior while attending VBS. After finishing his freshman year at LeTourneau University in Longview, TX, he met his future wife Cathy. They were married a year after he graduated in 1979 with a BS in Chemistry. They have been blessed with three children Adrienne, Eric and Caitlyn and recently celebrated their 29th anniversary at the end of August 2009. Their family started attending Colonial Baptist a few months after relocating to Cary during the summer of 1991. Adrienne now lives in Minneapolis, MN, Eric lives in Longview, TX and Caitlyn is finishing her senior year at Biola University in La Mirada, CA. Through the years, Russ and Cathy have been involved in a number of ministries at Colonial. These have included Awana Pioneer Director, Deacon, Second Grade Sunday School teachers, Welcome Class Coordinators (11 years), Welcome Desk greeters, and volunteers wherever the Lord calls. |
